How to Make a Classic Americano
Ingredients:
- 1–2 shots of freshly brewed espresso
- 120–180 ml (4–6 oz) hot water
Steps:
- Heat the water to about 85–95°C (just below boiling).
- Brew the espresso using an espresso machine (1 shot for regular strength, 2 for stronger flavor).
- Pour hot water into a cup first, then gently add the espresso on top (this helps preserve the crema).
- Serve immediately and enjoy black, or add sugar if desired.
A traditional ratio is about 1 part espresso to 2–4 parts hot water, depending on how strong you prefer your coffee.
