Homemade Classic Americano
You can easily make a classic Americano at home with just espresso and hot water.
Ingredients:
- 1–2 shots of espresso (or strong coffee if no espresso machine)
- 120–180 ml hot water (just below boiling)
Method (With Espresso Machine):
- Heat water to about 85–95°C.
- Pour the hot water into your cup first.
- Brew a fresh espresso shot (25–30 seconds extraction).
- Gently pour the espresso over the hot water.
- Serve black and enjoy.
Without an Espresso Machine:
Use a moka pot, AeroPress, or very strong brewed coffee as a substitute for espresso. Then dilute with hot water in a 1:2 to 1:4 ratio.
A homemade classic Americano should taste smooth, clean, and slightly bold—without milk or cream—to keep it authentic.
