Homemade Classic Americano

You can easily make a classic Americano at home with just espresso and hot water.

Ingredients:

  • 1–2 shots of espresso (or strong coffee if no espresso machine)
  • 120–180 ml hot water (just below boiling)

Method (With Espresso Machine):

  1. Heat water to about 85–95°C.
  2. Pour the hot water into your cup first.
  3. Brew a fresh espresso shot (25–30 seconds extraction).
  4. Gently pour the espresso over the hot water.
  5. Serve black and enjoy.

Without an Espresso Machine:
Use a moka pot, AeroPress, or very strong brewed coffee as a substitute for espresso. Then dilute with hot water in a 1:2 to 1:4 ratio.

A homemade classic Americano should taste smooth, clean, and slightly bold—without milk or cream—to keep it authentic.
